Amalgam or silver fillings are the metal colored fillings. Amalgam was the traditional material used for fillings for many years. The shade/ colour of the new white composite fillings can be closely matched to the colour of existing teeth and are much more pleasing to the eye.
Amalgam fillings can cause a 100 mV continuous galvanic action which may leech Mercury into the gum tissue. We believe that detoxification is an important process to rid of the poisoning mercury.
The protocol we follow when removing mercury amalgam fillings is based on that of the International Academy of Oral Medicine and Toxicology (IAOMT).

Metal- Free Dental Implants
A dental implant is normally a titanium metal rod which is placed into the jawbone to replace missing teeth. It is used to support one or more false teeth. A dental implant is designed to act as the tooth root and can anchor an artificial tooth or teeth such as a crown, bridge or denture. In practice, both the false teeth and their supporting rod are known as implants.

Dental Crowns
Crowns are an ideal way to rebuild teeth which have been broken, or have been weakened by decay or a very large filling. The crown fits right over the remaining part of the tooth, making it strong and giving it the shape and contour of a natural tooth.
Dental crown materials we use at BioDental Clinic are porcelain crowns on gold base, press ceramic and zirconia.
Dental Bridges
Dental bridges are one method to fill a gap created by a missing tooth (or teeth). Depending on the dental bridge type you choose, the procedure and cost will vary.

Inlays-Onlays
After removal of the amalgam filling or root canal treatment, if the hole of your tooth is too large for a regular fillings. We recommend a taylor made porcelain piece cemented into the hole instead of a normal white filling to create a stronger tooth. If the hole is inside then we will call this an Inlay, if the hole is on the surface of the tooth then this is called an Onlay.
The colour of Inlays and Onlays will always match the colour of your original tooth so you can not tell the difference.
Root Canal Treatments
Root canal treatment (also called endodontics) is needed when the blood or nerve supply of the tooth (known as the pulp) is infected through decay or injury. The aim of the treatment is to remove all infection from the root canal.
The root canal is then cleaned and shaped ready for the filling. Liquid medicine is put in and the tooth is left to settle. The tooth is checked at a later visit and when all the infection has cleared, the tooth is permanently filled.

Veneers are a thin layer of porcelain made to fit over the front surface of a tooth, either to aesthetically improve the look of the teeth or to repair chips, cracks and discoloured teeth. This treatment significantly improves the shape and colour of your teeth, also close gaps between the teeth and crowded or crooked teeth can be evened out.
The veneers that we use in our clinic are made of press ceramic material (IPS Empress) to create the best result.
Zirconia Crowns
Zirconium-oxide is a ceramic material that is the closest aesthetically to a real tooth and is thus an ideal solution for the construction of crowns and bridges.
At BioDental Clinic Zirconium ceramic crowns and bridge units are made by using the most advanced and innovative computer aided design and manufacturing (CAD/CAM) technology. We recommend for its benefits, as it gives the best aesthetic appearance and at the same time it is as strong as the metal based structured crowns and bridges. At BioDental Clinic we use two different tooth whitening systems. OpalescenceŽ teeth whitening system: this is a one hour whitening treatment at our clinic. Or Home whitening: we make a press of your teeth, create you a taylor made shield and give you whitening gel. This can all be used in the comfort of your home.
